A woman in a red headscarf with a rainbow extension sitting on a couch with a monitoring device on her wrist, connected to her head with electrodes, during a brain activity test in a medical setting. A man is sitting nearby facing a screen displaying colorful brain wave patterns, and a computer on the table shows a scenic desktop background.

PREPARING FOR YOUR EEG

Your initial EEG (brain scan) will set the stage for your neurotherapy treatment plan. Some simple steps can prepare you for the most effective scan and optimal treatment planning results.

  1. Get a good night’s sleep prior to your EEG! Mornings are the optimal time for most, and so we will typically schedule your brain scan for a morning that allows for best brain energy.

  2. Do not take or use nonprescribed stimulants or medical marijuana 48 hours before the scan.

  3. Do not have caffeine or nicotine at least 12 hours before the scan. (Yes, this means missing your morning coffee the day of the scan.)

  4. Do not drink alcohol the night before.

  5. Come in with clean, dry hair.

    • Do not use any hair products, such as gel, mousse, hair spray, etc.

    • If possible, do not use conditioner prior to your EEG.

  6. Eat a healthy meal with protein prior to your EEG, which will provide energy for your brain!

  7. We will ask you to remove all piercings. If you want to do so before coming to the scan, that would be helpful.

  8. We will be attaching a heart monitor to your left ribcage. Please do not wear a body suit, romper, dress, or other article of clothing that would make this difficult to reach.

If you have questions, please do not hesitate to ask us prior to coming in for your brain scan!
